Meet the team – Lucia Vigilante

Lucia has joined the SIS team for the summer as our latest Saltire Scholar intern. She is here to support in the creation and delivery of this year’s Social Impact Report and couldn’t be more excited to get stuck in.

Lucia VigilanteHer role will involve taking all the data from our annual Social Impact Survey – completed by 96% of our 136 current customers and pulling out all the interesting outputs and outcomes for the annual report. She will also be supporting in the design and build of the report microsite.

Lucia has just completed her third year of studying Sustainable Development at the University of Edinburgh and is hoping to write her dissertation on the world of sustainable and social enterprises. Passionate about understanding the wider impact of business, she has a part-time job with a local café with a conscience, Pumpkin Brown, where she has loved learning more about their supply chains and how to reduce waste in the hospitality industry.

Lucia is a passionate cellist and the current president of the Edinburgh University String Orchestra. She has spent the last year organising and marketing the orchestra’s concerts in Edinburgh, including the impressive 25 year anniversary concert. Brought up in Vienna by a Czech mother and Australian father, Lucia is truly trilingual and is fluent in English, German and Czech.

As part of being a Saltire Scholar, Lucia is expected to blog about her experience and her first blog is a great wee read on life at SIS. Check it out here.
