Meet the team – Lorna Baird
Some of you may already be acquainted with Lorna Baird from her previous role as Social Enterprise Advisor for Business Gateway where she supported a raft of social enterprises across Edinburgh with invaluable business support and guidance.
As part of the role with Business Gateway, she clearly identified the demand for retail support for customer facing social enterprises in Edinburgh and ran workshops on this very topic in partnership with Edinburgh Social Enterprise Network.
Originally from Gourock in Inverclyde, Lorna spent her earlier days working in economic and community regeneration in Higher Education and Local Government followed by a successful career as economic development consultant specialising in community engagement. After moving East, Lorna helped to set up a social enterprise called Mi Enterprise – supporting people with learning disabilities to start and grow their own micro-businesses.
Lorna enjoys the life in the country with her family, they live in Kelso and love taking the dog out on long countryside walks. Another keen hobby of Lorna’s is interior design, she loves travelling round the country, finding treasures in antique shops and upcycling furnishings at home.
Lorna is excited to be taking on the new Business Support role at SIS (a new appointment focused on offering innovative investment readiness support) and can’t wait to offer practical support and guidance to Scotland’s growing social enterprise sector.
