Meet the team – Chris Jamieson
We’re delighted to welcome Chris to the Social Investment Scotland team as Lead Fund Manager for the Social Growth Fund. Chris will be continuing the great work done so far with the fund, building new relationships and supporting high growth, high impact social enterprises across Scotland.
Chris grew up in Longniddry, just east of Edinburgh and started work at the Royal Bank of Scotland soon after finishing school. With a natural aptitude for numbers, an eye for a challenge and a desire to build strong relationships with the people he worked with, Chris quickly built a strong and diverse career at the bank. He has worked extensively in corporate and business banking, supporting businesses to scale up and get comfortable with taking the plunge.
Leveraging on his commercial experience at the bank, Chris has taken a lot of time to provide voluntary support to charitable organisations and social enterprises. This generally involved sitting in on board meetings or team meetings, providing a fresh pair of eyes over their business model and challenging and supporting the organisations in their journey. He also lent his hand to writing grant applications for charitable organisations so has a good sense of the different structures and support necessary for the third sector. After almost 19 years at the bank, he’s now really looking forward to combining his financial and business acumen with the desire to make a measurable and sustainable social impact.
Chris is a keen sportsman and was once an international fencer, winning both Scottish and Commonwealth Championships as well as competing on the European and World stage. He now plays golf competitively, representing his local golf club at local and county level. When not competing, Chris enjoys travelling, experiencing new food and cultures and a good night out at the movies.
