Alastair Davis OBE (he/him)
Chief Executive Officer
Alastair joined SIS in 2009 to run the investment team and became SIS’s Chief Executive two years later. Alastair is currently a Trustee and member of the Investment Committee at Aberlour Children's Charity, an Investment Committee member at the Access Foundation and on the advisory board of Scottish EDGE. In 2021, he was named SCVO Director of the Year – Third Sector by The Institute of Directors (IoD) Scotland.
Before joining SIS, Alastair worked in community banking for the Bank of Scotland, where he developed his broad and extensive knowledge of social investment. In 2012, he completed the prestigious Strategic Perspectives in Nonprofit Management programme at Harvard Business School and in 2017 was awarded a Fellowship of the Chartered Banker Institute.
Alastair was awarded an OBE for Services to Social Enterprise and to Charity in Scotland in The King’s Birthday Honours List 2024.
When not at SIS or on holiday on the high seas, Alastair enjoys spending time in the kitchen, working on his latest culinary creations.
Ling Tsang
Investment Support Manager
Ling provides essential investment support to our customers. She brings with her more than ten years of experience with the Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS). Initially in retail banking at RBS, she shifted to business banking where she became a Relationship Manager Assistant – helping customers throughout the loan drawdown process.
More recently, Ling worked in the healthcare sector as a business administrator, making sure all enquiries and transactions were dealt with in a professional and timely manner.
Outside of work, she enjoys catching up with friends over good food and drinks and planning her next holiday.
Lindsay Wake (she/her)
Head of Impact
As Head of Impact and Communications, Lindsay leads our impact strategy, aligning operations and messaging with the organisational mission, and supporting investees to define, measure and strengthen their outcomes. Additionally, Lindsay's commitment to diversity, wellbeing, and environmental approaches reinforces SIS's culture as an inclusive organisation grounded in responsible business practices.
Lindsay brings 16 years' experience across the social enterprise and charity sectors, including senior roles in impact management, affordable housing advocacy, community development, regeneration and communications, and management of a grant-making trust. Her expertise in social impact frameworks, measurement and communication, shape the direction of our operations.
In her spare time, you'll find Lindsay at the cinema, reading, swimming, or playing the piano. She recently qualified as a Yoga teacher and is an accredited Nature and Wellbeing Practitioner.
Sharon Gillies
Chief Operations Officer
Sharon joined SIS in 2025 as Chief Operations Officer, supporting the delivery of loans and investments to social enterprises, charities, and mission-led businesses across the UK. She plays a key role in strengthening operations and guiding the organisation through regulatory and organisational developments.
Prior to SIS, Sharon was Director of Operations and Company Secretary at MND Scotland, where she led improvements in governance, finance, and culture. A certified accountant, she also spent 25 years in financial services, most latterly as COO at Morgan Stanley Glasgow, where she oversaw CSR, volunteer engagement, and charity partnerships.
Outside of work, Sharon is passionate about volunteering and enjoys live music and family time.
Kieran Daly (he/him)
Head of Market Building
Kieran has worked in programme development, fundraising and social investment roles for over 20 years at senior levels, in London and Scotland. He was COO of hunger charity Food Cycle which operated across England, where he doubled the organisational footprint and income. Other senior roles included as programmes and income director at youth charity Tower Hamlets Summer University and also at arts education charity Hoxton Hall.
Before Joining SIS as Head of Market Building, where he leads on programme and business support fundraising and delivery, he was in a similar role at Big Issue Invest where he was Scotland Manager, leading on investment and business support for early-stage social enterprises. He is currently a Board Member at National arts charity, Impact Arts and was formally a Social Enterprise Scotland board member.
Outside of work, Kieran can usually be found cycling.
Julie Kyle (she/her)
Market Building Manager
Since joining the SIS family in 2020, Julie has executed her passion for supporting projects that make a real difference to communities and charities.
Planning and implementing large- and small-scale events is what Julie does best. Prior to joining us, she spent more than 30 years with the Bank of Scotland and Lloyds Banking Group, overseeing arts and sports community sponsorships, as well as other stakeholder events.
Julie has collaborated with a number of notable organisations, including the Edinburgh International Festival, the Great Scottish Run and the Scottish Football Association.
In her spare time, Julie loves travelling, going to the gym and walking with her dog, Frank
Louisa Shanks
Investment Manager
Louisa joined Social Investment Scotland in January 2026, bringing a range of experience from across the funding and cultural sectors. Louisa joined SIS from Nesta, where she worked as a freelance Programme Consultant with the Challenge Works team, managing the delivery of a multi-partner innovation funding programme.
Before this, Louisa worked as an Investment Associate for Arts & Culture Finance (now Figurative), where she managed a portfolio of UK arts and culture organisations. Louisa started her career in film, working on the Edinburgh and London Film Festivals and as a Producer at Into Film, the UK’s leading film education charity.
Outside of work, Louisa enjoys live music, pottery and spending time outdoors.
Neovi Gough
Finance & Operations Assistant
Neovi joined SIS in May 2025, bringing with her a background in luxury retail. At SIS, she supports the finance team as a Finance & Operations Assistant, contributing to various essential finance functions.
Outside of work, Neovi enjoys spending time at the park with her Frenchie, Ziggy, picnicking, and reading great books. She is also an avid runner and is currently learning Spanish in her spare time.
Jason Thomson (he/him)
Communications Assistant
Jason joined the SIS team with over a decade of experience in the hospitality and drinks industries.
Our customers now benefit from an improved website experience thanks to his expertise. Jason spends the majority of his time creating engaging content, developing our websites’ functionality and optimising SEO. He also assists the SIS Marketing Building team, making sure SIS continues to deliver a high-quality service while we grow.
In his spare time, Jason pens his own whisky blog and writes for other publications. He’s also a cinema fanatic and looks forward to weekends with his young family.
Claudia Albrecht (she/her)
Impact, Insights & Research Manager
Claudia is Impact, Insights & Research Manager, with a focus on data, research and evidence‑based insight across SIS funds and programmes. She joined SIS in 2022 through the 2027 Programme and has an 18‑year background in community advice, legal advocacy and third‑sector work, with extensive experience in qualitative and quantitative research. Claudia lives in Lewis and is committed to social justice, community empowerment and sustainable development.
Derek Gardiner (he/him)
Investment Manager
Derek joined SIS in 2017 as an Investment Manager, bringing 25 years of experience in banking and financial services, including relationship management roles with Bank of Scotland and TSB.
At SIS, Derek provides key advice and support to our customers. Whether discussing growth plans or funding opportunities, Derek's acute knowledge of financial topics helps businesses become more financially savvy. Derek also assesses funding proposals for new clients, supporting charities and social enterprises to access the investment they need.
Outside of work, Derek enjoys playing golf and spending time with his family.
Wilma Purser (she/her)
Communications Assistant
Wilma joined the SIS family in 2021, bringing with her over 30 years of experience as a marketing and communications consultant across the corporate, financial and professional services sectors.
At SIS, she is responsible for external communications – particularly telling customer stories and social media engagement.
Outside of work, Wilma enjoys renovating properties, gardening, travelling and going to gigs.
