Market Building for the Future

Expert webinars on restructures, mergers, and developing routes to new markets

Social Investment Scotland (SIS) and Social Shifters are working together on a suite of expert webinars and e-learning programme to support Scotland’s social enterprise sector.

SIS has re-engaged its legal and accountancy partners, Morton Fraser, Burness Paull and Scott Moncrieff to offer pro-bono advice on restructures, charity mergers and routes to developing new markets.

These sessions will be supported with first-hand experience, from a range of social sector organisations including the Piper Group, Giraffe Healthcare and mental health practice Brave Your Day. The sessions will offer both professional and first-hand experience of having to mange a range of change options both for business survival and future growth.

It takes a village …

The Social Shifters Scotland platform has a supportive network of over 1,000 members; all running successful charities and social enterprises. Social Shifters and has been funded by Scottish Government to support the third sector through COVID-19 and beyond.

Since COVID-19 started, SIS rapidly moved its support and leadership development programmes online. Our ‘Ambitions’ programme, supporting a cohort of 20 leaders across 12 weeks around themes of replenishment, reviving and rebuilding their enterprises post COVID-19. Key learning from the Ambitions programme also enabled us to respond to our customers’ needs and the wider sector in a timely manner, offering more than 40 support webinars engaging more than 1,000 people.


Re-building in partnership

Over the course of the next few weeks, look out for our ‘Raising Investment’ programme, which will be launched in late July, providing first-hand accounts of leaders using social investment to create meaningful impact.

We’ll be also be offering our ‘Ambitions’ programme again to a new cohort of Third Sector leaders, endeavouring to managing change in their organisations post COVID-19.

Our Retail Academy, in partnership with ASDA and other retailers, will launch in October 2020. In the run up to Christmas, this online programme will focus and prepare product based social enterprises to be ready and equipped for brave new world of post COVID-19 trading.
