SIS Associate Business Support Programme
What is the SIS Associate Business Support Programme?
This is an opportunity for social enterprise leaders, and their Boards, to have nuts and bolts support to improve the operations, systems, strategies and/or financial projections for growth. The starting point for leaders and Board members engaging on the programme is often – what keeps you awake at night and what support would be useful to address this. We can the offer up to four days support from one or our associates to support you with the ‘nuts and bolts’ of your organisation to grow. This may be:
- Executive Coaching – Coaching for you as a leader to grow
- Entrepreneurial Experience – Support from an experienced social enterprise leader who has ‘been there’. Someone who has a track record in scaling an organisation
- Financial projections – from an experienced account and/or businessperson to support with projections for growth. Support as a ‘critical friend’ to test some assumptions
- Data, IT and Management Information – support to build systems and processes to provide a better overview of your finances for management and governance purposes
- Governance and Risk – Support to have conversations around risk, growth, and social investment with your board
We have made available the equivalent of up to four days support from a SIS Associate. This could be less time, or slightly more depending on your needs. How and when you use this time is up to you and completely flexible, and to be agreed between you and the associate.
Who are the SIS Associates and what experience and skills can they offer?
We have a range of associates that work with us. Some are experienced social entrepreneurs. Some have grown and sold lucrative private businesses. Some have experience as senior finance / operations, or data executives and financial analysts. Here are some of their profiles:

Ingrid has a 30-year career working in public and third sector organisations in both the Scotland and Australia promoting and developing meaningful social change. She has significant experience of leading complex organisations, supporting excellence within organisational practice, leading strategic planning, developing cohesive and effective teams, leading change, and supporting financial sustainability. Ingrid was CEO of COPE ltd., an award-winning retail based social enterprise, for 10 years.

Marcella’s early career was in economic development before joining a global talent management company where she was UK & Ireland Client Services Director. For the last 7 years she has worked as an Interim Manager undertaking assignments across the third and public sectors:- initiating and implementing new projects, supporting Executive Teams in the development and execution of strategies and undertaking Board governance reviews.
She is an experienced charity Trustee, a Non Executive Director with a national NHS Health Board and (part-time) CEO of an independent UK grant-maker.

Jane Bruce is the Founder of Founder at Brilliant Leaders a transformational coaching & development for mission driven leaders and teams. Jane’s coaching is based on a belief that everyone has the potential for leadership and the ability to have a positive impact on the world. She offers a model of modern leadership that is accessible and effective for the challenging times we are living in.
Jane has been operating at senior leadership level as a Chief Executive and Board Member for the past 16 years, bringing a deep knowledge of organisations to her coaching. Jane has worked mainly in the not for profit sector but have also worked extensively with partners across the public and commercial sectors.
Jane was also previously Director of Venture Scotland – delivering on running wilderness-based programmes of personal development and volunteering for disadvantaged young people.

Alastair is an advisor at Edinburgh Airport, having retired as their Chief Financial Officer in 2021. During his 7 year tenure at the airport, passengers numbers were increased by 50% and turnover doubled.
Prior to the airport, Alastair was a Finance Director in a wide range of businesses across many sectors including health, facilities management, oil services and aviation.
Alastair is also a Board member at Flexible Childcare Services Scotland (FCSS) charity.
Tim Wild and Jan Wild

Tim and Jan Wild are the founders of YASEICO Ltd, which primarily provides information security and data protection services and training. Tim was one of the owners of a global online Customer experience and Insights Solutions company, which he exited through its sale in 2020. He has a wide-ranging career in all things data, systems and Insights. Jan is a financial business partner and performance analyst, having spent a large part of her career in the financial services industry with Aberdeen Standard Investments. Jan also has served as a Board advisor for some social enterprise start-ups.

Keith is a certified Coach and a senior partner at The Rubicon Partnership, one of the leading executive coaching businesses in Scotland. His coaching provided will be specifically for you, a programme that works with your schedule. Coaching sessions are usually 90 minutes and recommended to run monthly at the same time and day each month, gaining routine and focus. A chemistry session is required beforehand to get to know each other, discuss the coaching programme and plan the coaching agreement. Keith has 30 years of commercial and marketing expertise, and has coached in the not for profit and charity sector. His coaching will bring real insight and learning, challenging and guiding you to fresh perspective and understanding of the challenges in front of you.

Pete is a passionate advocate of the use of property for social and environmental benefit, and has nearly 20 years’ experience of property investment, development and management, and social impact design and measurement. Pete spent 10 years at the Ethical Property Company, setting up and managing commercial properties for social change organisations, including “The Foundry” social justice and human rights centre which was awarded RIBA’s “London Building of the Year”. Pete moved to Melbourne in 2013 to found Ethical Property Australia and led the establishment of a $40 million impact property fund. He now lives in Edinburgh, providing consultancy services to community-led housing and social impact property projects, and continuing his work with Ethical Property.
