SIS brings 'Funding Social' to Stranraer to fuel growth for third sector

20 Nov 2025

Social Investment Scotland (SIS) is bringing its Funding Socials series to Stranraer this month, giving charities and social enterprises across Dumfries and Galloway the chance to unlock new funding opportunities, gain expert advice, and build connections that strengthen local communities.

Millennium Centre Back Enterance

The event takes place on Tuesday, 25th November at The Millennium Centre in Stranraer, and will bring together local third sector organisations with key funders and support bodies. Designed to be open and welcoming, the Funding Social series creates space for fresh ideas and collaborative learning that will help organisations build resilience and thrive well into the future.

Dumfries & Galloway is home to a diverse and resilient third sector, with hundreds of charities and social enterprises delivering vital services in health, wellbeing, education, and community development. However, access to funding and tailored support can remain a key challenge, which is something that SIS hopes to address through this collaborative event.

Alongside a team from SIS, including Kieran Daly, head of market building, representatives from Development Trust Association Scotland, Third Sector Dumfries & Galloway, Firstport, and the National Lottery Community Fund will also be present, each offering valuable insights into funding opportunities and community development.

Kieran 2024

Kieran said: “When it comes to growth, we know that access to funding can feel like a huge barrier, especially when options seem limited. That’s why events like this are important. They bring the right people into the room to share advice, answer questions, and open clear pathways to support. Dumfries and Galloway has an incredibly robust third sector and this event is about giving local organisations the tools, connections and confidence they need to grow their impact.”
