Indigo Childcare Group is a dynamic social enterprise dedicated to providing high-quality early years and childcare services for children aged six weeks to 16 years.

With a values-driven approach and an accessible pricing model, Indigo ensures that even the most vulnerable families in their communities receive the support they need. Every profit generated is reinvested into services, staff development, and training — strengthening both the organisation and the communities it serves.

Recently, Indigo expanded its capacity, reaching an additional 120 families beyond the 500 they were already supporting.

Through investment, and the Business Associate Programme, Social Investment Scotland supported Indigo in the purchase of a commercial childcare provision, increasing their capacity and impact across the local area.

This investment has helped create and sustain quality employment and career opportunities within local communities while expanding access to affordable, high-quality childcare.

Key outcomes include:

  • Increased capacity that keeps rates affordable for over 500 families, enabling more parents to prepare for and secure employment
  • Strengthened financial sustainability, helping Indigo manage rising delivery costs
  • Creation and maintenance of Real Living Wage jobs with professional development pathways for staff
  • Added capacity to Scotland’s essential childcare infrastructure, supporting more parents to work, train, or study

By combining care, opportunity, and enterprise, Indigo Childcare Group continues to play a vital role in building stronger and more resilient communities.

"The SIS loan has been absolutely critical. We wouldn’t have been able to achieve this level of growth, or reach the number of families we have, without it."
