South of Scotland Programme
This series of free events brings together local and national agencies to support organisations, across the new South of Scotland Economic Partnership region, in developing enterprising activities. Designed for individuals, staff, managers or board members of community groups, social enterprises and charities, there are a range of events to suit organisations at different stages of their enterprise journey. The various activities will be taking place throughout the year across the Scottish Borders and Dumfries and Galloway.
Workshops and masterclasses will be released on this page as they become available.
Introduction to Enterprise Workshops
Those at the earliest stage will find the ‘Introduction to Enterprise’ workshops really useful, helping them consider how they or their group could establish enterprising activities for social benefit. Run by Scotland’s national social enterprise start-up support organisation, Firstport, the workshops are a blend of knowledge and experience and help attendees consider legal models, ideas generation, feasibility and action planning.
Understanding Social Investment
For those looking to grow their social enterprise activities, and looking to understand how social investment can help achieve this, join one of our ‘Understanding Social Investment’ workshops. These are relaxed workshops are a great way to learn about social investment. Packed full of information, case studies and inspiration, participants will leave understanding how different social investment models can help organisations fund future plans and achieve greater social impact. Experts are also on hand to answer your questions.
Ambitious Communities Masterclasses
‘Ambitious Communities‘ is an expert event that sets out to inspire and inform all those in the South of Scotland who want to see their area thrive. We will hear from both local and national case studies in the masterclass and will consider the challenges of raising finance, developing sustainable enterprises and community engagement, which are all critical elements for success. The event is run in partnership with the Development Trust Association Scotland and Creetown Initiative. Conversations on the day will also influence and develop future thinking and support to help you succeed.
The South of Scotland Programme is funded by the South of Scotland Economic Partnership and runs from January 2019 to March 2020.
