SIS’s Impact Investment Arm Opens for Second Fundraise
We’re delighted that our impact investment arm, SIS Ventures, has opened for a second fundraise, following successfully investing its previous raise in high-impact enterprises.
While this is a relatively new approach to investment, particularly in Scotland, we saw an opportunity to connect more capital with impactful enterprises. Therefore, we created SIS Ventures – a flexible investor which looks to co-invest alongside other mission-aligned investors. We were motivated by the idea that we had the expertise and networks to bring together highly impactful businesses and private individuals who sought not only a financial return from their investments, but a social return also.
From its first funding round, SIS Ventures successfully raised £1.3m from twenty-five UK-based private investors. With demand from mission-driven entrepreneurs exceeding expectations, the initial fundraise has now been successfully invested among a portfolio of high-growth, early stage enterprises who are focused on delivering profit with purpose.
Having invested in businesses such as EnteroBiotix, Good-Loop, Talking Medicines and Brewgooder, SIS Ventures has established proof of the fund’s purpose-led investment strategy. To learn more about the SIS Ventures investees, check out the SIS Ventures website here.
SIS Ventures has launched a second round of fundraising with the aim of attracting up to £3.7m to scale up its support of Scotland’s high-impact enterprises. Benefiting from both Enterprise Investment Scheme (EIS) relief and Social Investment Tax Relief (SITR), SIS Ventures offers investors a portfolio of high-growth potential, high-impact enterprises which aim to tackle a clearly identifiable social problem with a scalable and disruptive business solution.
