Meet the team – Amy Martin

Amy has joined SIS over the summer on an internship to support in the preparation and marketing of the Asda Social Enterprise Supplier Development Academy 2017.

Amy has just finished her degree in Business Enterprise at Strathclyde University at the Hunter School for Entrepreneurship. She loved the practical aspects of the degree, working with small and local companies in business planning, marketing and just the day-to-day challenges on running an ambitious and growing small business.

Amy’s dissertation was on equity crowdfunding for which she interviewed half a dozen entrepreneurs on their successes, failures, and how they utilised their social capital to achieve their targets. Amy has worked part-time for her local Asda in Bishopbriggs since she was in high school and brings insider knowledge and an enthusiasm to learn more about Asda’s supply chains and how to support small businesses and social enterprises access these routes to market.

Amy has previously worked with Vanilla Blush, a fantastic company creating boutique lingerie and underwear for people who have had ostomy surgery and have a stoma bag. Their products are available through prescription on the NHS and at their Glasgow stores. She also used to play netball and badminton and volunteered with the Commonwealth Games building badminton courts!
