Alistair Johnstone

As Chief Credit Officer, Alistair is responsible for the investment activities and credit compliance across SIS, and brings to the team extensive experience in relationship management following a successful career of over 20 years with the Bank of Scotland as a Relationship Director. Alistair also spent a number of years within Bank of Scotland's Internal Audit department, which has provided him with an in depth knowledge of risk assessment and risk mitigation. Alistair has strong credit assessment skills and is extremely approachable. Alistair is a regular attendee of the Munich Oktoberfest. Meet Alistair

Rob Halliday

• Lead Fund Manager - Community Finance

Rob is the Lead Fund Manager for our Community Finance fund. Rob’s role involves the assessment of new lending proposals and relationship management of a portfolio of SIS’s customers. Rob has worked with social enterprises operating in a wide range of sectors including Arts & Culture, Renewable Energy, Sport, Technology, Education and Care & Support Services. Rob is a Chartered Accountant and prior to joining SIS he worked at Deloitte advising on the sale of Scottish businesses to both corporate and institutional investors. Away from his desk Rob loves all things outdoors, his weekends are normally spent either surfing on the east coast or climbing in the Highlands!

Chris Jamieson

• Lead Fund Manager - Social Growth Fund

Chris is the Lead Fund Manager for the Social Growth Fund. He has had a strong and diverse career with RBS, working extensively in business banking, supporting businesses to scale up and take the plunge. Leveraging on his commercial experience at the bank, Chris has also taken a lot of time to provide voluntary support to charitable organisations and social enterprises. This generally involved sitting in on board meetings or team meetings, providing a fresh pair of eyes over their business model and writing grant applications. Chris is a keen sportsman and was once an international fencer, winning both Scottish and Commonwealth Championships as well as competing on the European and World stage. He now plays golf competitively, representing his local golf club at local and county level. Meet Chris.

Katie Handy

Katie has been with SIS since 2011 during which time her primary focus has been on the delivery of the Scottish Investment Fund as well as providing support across the wider investment activities of SIS.  Now Katie is an Investment Manager with a focus on the delivery of the Social Growth Fund. Katie has a background in Corporate Finance having worked for Deloitte LLP and Ernst & Young LLP before joining the team at SIS, advising on management buyouts and corporate disposals. When not at work, Katie loves spending time with her young family, swimming, cycling, walking and doing pretty much anything that involves getting out and about!   

 

Eileen Gardiner

• Investment Manager - Highlands and Islands

Eileen joined the team at SIS as an Investment Manager for the Highlands and Islands.  Eileen brings a background of both public and private sector experience. She worked with Highlands and Islands Enterprise for 20 years, where she was involved in Community and Business projects. She joined the Bank of Scotland in 2002, where she worked in both the Business Bank and, for the past 6 years, in Wealth and International as a Private Banking Manager looking after a portfolio of around 300 high net-worth clients spread over the Highlands and Islands.  Eileen enjoys spending time with her two grandchildren and has also taken up line dancing lessons for her trip to Nashville this year!

Tracy Drummond

Tracy joined the Investment Team in May 2014, as the new Investment Manager for Sport. Over the last 10 years Tracy’s roles have focused on the distribution of Scottish Government funding to community organisations and charities. Here her role was Community Safety Development Manager and latterly, for 6 years, Investment Manager for  Museums Galleries Scotland.

Her first 6 months in this new role has focused on the management of the Legacy 2014: Sustainable Sport for Communities Fund.  Tracy has built strong relationships with a number of existing and aspiring community sport social enterprises. As our Investment Manager for Sport, Tracy will be responsible for all Sport related customers and enquiries and will provide a sector specific knowledge and experience to the role. 

Joanne Karatzidis

Joanne Karatzidis has joined Social Investment Scotland after a 20 year career in banking, primarily with Lloyds Banking Group, working in the Corporate & Commercial sectors but latterly at TSB Business Banking. She is now looking forward to supporting social enterprises to secure investment and enabling them to deliver impact and grow their local economy

One of Joanne’s interests is learning Greek. As the name might suggest, her husband is Greek and she’s keen not to let him do all the talking when they next travel to see relatives. ‘On our next visit, I am determined that my son and I will be more proficient in Greek and so we’re currently embarking on a month endeavour to improve our Greek language skills’. 

Kayla Fowler

Kayla is the Investment Assistant and supports the investment team throughout the process from enquiry to drawdown. She can answer questions about taking on investment and helps to support our clients through the legal and financial due diligence process. Before joining SIS, she spent over 6 years working with third sector organisations and assessing funding applications at the Big Lottery Fund in England. In her spare time, Kayla enjoys knitting and sewing, playing basketball and rugby, and volunteering with Girlguiding. Meet Kayla

Derek Gardiner

Derek’s role as an Investment Manager involves travelling around the country, from the Highlands and Islands, to Glasgow –where he is based -, Argyll and the West of Scotland to meet organisations face to face to discuss funding opportunities. With his strong track record in Relationship Management at Bank of Scotland and latterly Lloyds TSB, he is well placed to review and develop business plans and financial information and support social enterprises and charities become more financially savvy and access investment. Derek used to play football professionally for Dundee United and East Stirlingshire FC and is always up for a charity footy match!
