Recycle Fife is a project based in Lochgelly providing recycling services to both commercial and domestic customers in Fife, Perth and Kinross. The organisation was founded in 2004 and currently sustains 25 members of staff as well several permanent volunteers.
Recycle Fife has made it easier for households and businesses to recycle their refuse and actively promotes the benefits of recycling around Fife. Furthermore, they are able to offer recycled furniture made from barrels as well as provide a skip hire service. Recycle Fife also provides vital training, employment and volunteering opportunities for local people in disadvantaged areas, which is making a significant social impact in the region.
In 2009, SIS was able to provide finance for new equipment which enabled Recycle Fife to grow and expand their operations. They have also recently received additional investment to extend their premises which expands the capacity of their operations. The increase in Recycle Fife's capacity to store refuse will result in the ability to take on more business and secure the sustainability of Recycle Fife's operations going forward.
Recycle Fife plan to sign new contracts and attract new customers to make an even bigger environmental impact, expand the number of volunteer opportunities and increase the number of employees in the very near future.
