Seaton Community Enterprise
Background
Seaton Community Enterprise is a registered Scottish Charity, established in Aberdeen in 1991 as part of a nationwide project for the regeneration of priority areas. It trades as a social enterprise and invests the resulting surpluses in the economic and social regeneration of the ward of Seaton.
Based on its own and external research the charity identified several years ago that it urgently needed to expand its children's nursery and this opened in September 2009 resulting in significant forecasted trading surpluses. These will be ploughed back into the community through a partnership with STAR - Seaton Taking Action for Regeneration - a voluntary group established in the ward to channel and direct the community's desire for improvements in their quality of life.

How SIS helped
Linda Trewin, Manager of Seaton Community Enterprise said:
"We met Social Investment Scotland when they assessed our application to Futurebuilders. This resulted in a very positive relationship. Fundraising in the North East of Scotland is not easy and the loan played an integral role in ensuring we raised the capital costs required to complete the building project."
