Recycle Fife
Background
Recycle Fife is one of the most successful social enterprises in Fife providing recycling and waste management facilities for businesses and households across Fife and the surrounding areas. It creates employment, training and volunteering opportunities, particularly for those who are furthest from the job market.
2009/2010 was a year of change, fresh challenges and exciting developments with substantial expansion.
The organisation is an excellent example of best practice and innovation in the community recycling sector. Increased employment and training opportunities have enabled provision of the best service possible to the local community and has significantly increased the tonnages diverted from landfill.
Recycle Fife is well placed to encourage the development the community sector and to lead by example.

How SIS helped
An investment from The Scottish Investment Fund allowed for the purchase of new machinery, equipment and vehicles, which enabled the organisation to dramatically increase the type and tonnages of the materials currently recycled. This has increased both the environmental and social impact of the organisation and the sustainability of its operation into the future.
