Know You More
Know You More received a loan of £45,000 from our Asda Community Capital fund to redevelop its virtual coaching platform to provide a more innovative, user-friendly and effective experience for its young users.
Know You More is a learning and development platform that delivers virtual coaching to accelerate organisations’ young workforces. Coaching is traditionally an activity targeted at older adults and senior business professionals, however, Tim Mart, Founding Director of Know You More, realised that it is young people who could benefit from it most.
Founded in 2015, the coaching platform looks to help young people develop themselves and specifically support with the transition into adulthood and work; developing essential skills early on so that they can really make an impact. The idea behind the platform is very much about empowering young people.
Tim saw an opportunity to create a positive impact in young people at scale through technology. With a drive to make Know You More as accessible as possible, they created a model which allows for virtual coaching, taking geography out of the equation.
Initially, Know You More’s purely digital approach seemed a little misunderstood in the social enterprise world. They needed someone who could be open-minded and see the future opportunity to support them in developing their platform; someone who was forward-thinking and could see beyond the existing social enterprise landscape. With this in mind, Know You More connected with SIS and we began working together, not only a financial level but also on a partnership support level.
In addition to loan support, Know You More received strategic advice from SIS. Our team constructively challenged their model and worked with Know You More to figure out how to retain sustainability while still creating the impact that they really want to make. Know You More now work with organisations to deliver coaching for their staff and, in turn, gift the same service to the organisation’s, or one of Know You More’s, charity partners.
Know You More now has over 150 professionally qualified coaches who virtually support young people on the platform. Creating their impact through organisations and charity partners means that the young Know You More users can embed their learnings from the outset, meaning greater impact can be seen and felt in real time.
“Applying for funding can sometimes be quite daunting and arduous. With SIS, I always had the feeling that they were on our side and wanted to make this happen. Their support has been invaluable and because of it we have been able to develop the skill of hundreds of young people.”
